Pungently aromatic, this is a cocktail of fruit with a tropical melon base. This is a light bodied wine with a vibrancy and brightness, accompanied by a mineral salt note, not unlike sea salt in taste but certainly in its magnifying effects of flavour. The finish has a citrus like minerality and grapefruit pith texture.

“On the palate, extra richness has been squeezed into the wine through a longer than normal contact time with the yeast lees. I believe the lees contribute richness up until nine months post fermentation, from that point they start 'letting go' their inherent flavour: cream, yoghurt and other complex savoury notes. A wonderfully brooding wine with depths of darkness in both appearance and taste. A floral streak gives the wine some prettiness in what would otherwise be a fairly dark exercise. This promise of density gives way to a plumy richness on the palate.

There is some real power here, with vibrant magenta/violet colour, not at all lacking in depth but certainly suggesting youthfulness. This wine has further florals and spice characteristics, with suggestions of cranberry and raspberry.
